Yesterday we met our first Welsh descendant here in Patagonia, our guide Lorrani who is descended from a Welshman who came over here in 1890. Her surname is Williams!! Unfortunately that is all sh knows of her roots.
We have been blessed today with the most glorious day. We are breakfasted and ready for the off at 8:30. So looking forward to getting out into Patagonia. The day has been perfect and unexpectedly hot. I'm not complaining but a few degrees cooler would be nice. We have walked in the forest, viewed amazing scenery, been up and down mountains on both chair lifts and a gondola. Superb.
The trees in the forest put out the lumpy bit shown below and the mushrooms then grow on it rather than on the tree, which would destroy it.
The view coming down on the chair lift.
The view from the top of Cerro Otto. At the top of the mountain was a revolving restaurant where we sat and enjoyed a beer whilst watching the mountains pass by. A lovely way to spend an afternoon.
This is the safety system on our bus. Should the tyre deflate for any reason, the apparatus will automatically rein folate and maintain the pressure.
As we are so close we have to include this sign.
Now it's rush rush rush to shower and change and be ready to meet up for dinner. It's all go on this holiday and there's been no time for ice cream today.
